Rev Rachel talked about the transfiguration of Jesus on the mountain. That must have been an amazing and puzzling sight for the disciples who witnessed it.
She went on to say that this passage in Matthew’s gospel is followed by the story of the father who had a seriously ill son. We are taken quickly from a spiritual ‘high’ to a place of despair. This is so often how it is in our lives. Our job is to praise God for the high points and look out for others who are at a low point. The word of grace is that Jesus was there in both those situations and is with us whatever place we find ourselves in.
