Chepstow Methodist Church is right in the centre of the town, next to the bus station. It’s ideal for you to drop in to our Beacon Café for a coffee on our comfy sofas while waiting for your bus or even a takeaway drink if you are in a rush.
Beacon is open Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday when Debbie and her helpers serve up a selection of tasty fresh meals.
If you’d like to come in for a chat and a hot drink we are open on Thursday and Friday mornings for Warm Space. We are also next door to the fish and chip shop. What more could you want?

The Beacon café has recently had a makeover, replacing some tables with a relaxed seating area for conversations and meeting people.
Situated just above the historic Town Gate the church is at the heart of the community. We are fortunate that the historic priory church and the castle attract a number of visitors who wander through the town past the independent shops and restaurants, on their way to visit the Wye Valley or the Forest of Dean. Chepstow is host to various music and art festivals at the racecourse and in the castle and town during the summer.

We have very good transport links in Chepstow, via the two bridges over the river Severn. The M48 links with the M4 leading to London or West Wales and the M5 gives easy access to the north-west and the south-west. Traffic through Chepstow can be heavy at peak times.
The church, built in 1855, is in the gothic style and the façade is grade II listed. A few years ago we replaced the oak doors at the front with glass doors making the building seem more welcoming and letting in more light. We are always thinking about ways to make our building more hospitable and accessible. We now leave the front doors open in the daytime while Beacon and Warm Space are open so that people can come in via the street.

Parking couldn’t be easier as we can use the paid M&S Food Hall car park at the back of the church although there is a 1 hour limit. The parking charge (if in operation) can be redeemed in store. There is disabled access into the church from the car park.
We hold one Sunday worship service at 10.30am. Children are welcome to join us. This service is well attended and we are fortunate to have our faithful organist, Meurig, and also Steve and Mike who accompany the singing on the keyboard. The foundation of our church is the person of Jesus Christ. We are inspired and moulded by his life and teachings.

We have largely put aside the hymnbooks, preferring the freedom of reading from two large screens. We try to sing a mix of modern worship songs and traditional hymns. Lately our minister has been varying the format of the service with time for the congregation to share any stories where they have noticed God at work in the world.
We are known for being a caring church. Each member is allocated a pastoral visitor to keep in contact, and this is a valued part of our ministry. Once a month we have Holy Communion which is also taken to housebound members the following day.

There is so much more to tell, so if this has interested you, do come and visit, either in the Beacon, Warm Space or for Sunday worship.
